Job description


The market penetration of electric vehicles is accelerating, as a consequence the whole industry is under heavy pressure to ramp-up the production capacity and design batteries that continuously increase performance and reduce cost while maintaining the highest level of safety.

Due to the battery technology complexity, to its weight into the overall vehicle cost structure (~30-45%) and the competition from very advanced Asian players, the ACC Sales function is of critical importance to be awarded while meeting ACC business plan KPIs (especially profitability and volumes booking rates). In this context it's critical to manage and enhance the relationship with specific Key- Accounts to strengthen the positioning of ACC in the Automotive Battery market .

Overall job definition

ACC Sales function is organized by key accounts. Each key account is managed by a Sales Director (one for Mercedes-Benz AG, one for Stellantis), leading the overall account activities (from business development, RFI and RFQ to Change Request).

The Key Account Manager (KAM) Mercedes-Benz AG will report to the Sales Director MBAG and will :
-        Support the Sales Director in the development of the business and of the relationship with specific Key Account(s), in line with the Sales strategy
-        Support RFI/RFQ Process
-        Manage the Change Request process for the commercial items including pricing and terms renegotiation from the development to serial life phase
-        Establish Forecasts for the different programs of the customer 
-        Get relevant information about competition (Pricing, performances, Quality, Strategy,…)
She / he should be an experimented Sales profile, strongly business and customer oriented, able to understand and resolve customer issues, with autonomy, effective communication, and reporting.

She /he should have team spirit enabling to coordinate efficiently action’s plans and manage negotiation.

She / he should be able to address various functions at customer’s side (Purchasing, Research and Development, Engineering, Logistic, Quality …) and ACC project teams.

The main objectives of the Key Account Manager are:
Negotiation of in-depth details and terms of large contracts and framework agreements :
Support business and long-term relationship with the Key Account.
o  Manage RFI/RFQ process.
o  Support the Negotiation for pricing and Supply Agreement with the Purchasing Department of the customer in line with the objectives of the company.
o  Manage the commercial topics of the Change Requests.
o  Carries out the sales planning.  

Cross functional role
Significant interaction with Costing, Engineering, Innovation, Project Management, Quality, Logistic, After Sales, ACC production plants and within Sales & Marketing Department.

External relations
Very Close relationship with our customers, frontline to OEM Purchasing Departments, while also facing each other OEM functions in coordination / support of other ACC departments (Project, Innovation, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain).

Home office close to Stuttgart or ACC office near Bordeaux (France), with many business trips.


The matching candidate should meet most of the listed expectations below:

Knowledge / Know how
Very knowledgeable person about automotive area, very strong experience as Sales, preferably as a Tier1 supplier already working with Mercedes-Benz AG as a customer.
Know-how about electric vehicle battery industry and technology is a significant plus.

Experience (domain, number of years)
At least 10 years of experience in the automotive or battery sector.
At least 5-8 years of experience as sales (mandatory).

Qualifications (diplomas,…)
Mandatory fluency in following languages: German, English and French.
Italian is a nice to have.

Key behaviours
Autonomous, Responsible, Committed, Capable of managing Key Accounts.

Some extra skills which make the difference
Experience with one of the big 6 battery suppliers (CATL, LG, Samsung SDI, SK Innovation, BYD or Panasonic).
Experience on battery.
