About  Automotive Cells Company - ACC

Job description

The Mechanics Process Simulation Engineer will model the unitary process involved in Li-Ion production using model-based numerical simulations. He/she will develop numerical models based on the current knowledge on the physics involved, using commercial or in-house simulation tools. The main topics considered will relate to multiscale composite materials - such as electrodes immersed in electrolyte solutions-, thin metallic materials, and the nonlinear response of cells to static mechanical loads.

He/She will use CAD/CAE tools (for example, Hyperworks) and Finite Element implicit or explicit solvers (for example, Optistruct or RADIOSS). He/She will adopt a multi-scale approach to analyze ongoing manufacturing issues with adapted tools (e.g. Digimat).

He/She will have cross activities with the Mechanical Modeling Team, and be in direct interface with industrialization teams.

He/She will support design and scaling-up of new processes; will answer to Industrial teams’ needs; will contribute to the design of the experimental procedures required to calibrate his/her models.

He/she will be required to present the main results of his/her studies internally and to customers. He/She will remain up to date with state of the art process simulation activities through academic collaborations and manage external contracts and partnerships. He/she will manage his simulation environment.

As a Mechanical Process Simulation Engineer you should be familiar with the following tasks:

  • Perform mechanical fully non-linear static/quasi-static simulation at pack, module and cell level
  • Perform multi-scale analyses of nonlinear composite materials by using state-of-the-art numerical techniques (e.g., homogenization)
  • Able to coordinate characterization test of materials exhibiting a highly non-linear behavior (porous media, foams) and metals in the elastic-plastic domain. Data Interpretation and data analysis
  • Correlate models vs reality to improve company experience
  • Support pilot line and gigafactories process setup and optimization by modeling processes
  • Manage internal and external projects, contracts, while collaborating with internal teams (R&D, Industrialization, Projects, Simulation, …)
  • Develop 0D/1D/2D/3D models, based on a pre-identified set of physics-based equations, using pre-existing commercial software or pre-existing in-house numerical tools
  • Manage collaborations with suppliers, customers and strategic partners
  • Contribute to the company roadmap
  • Be up to date to the state of the art on its topic of expertise
  • Support Intellectual Property monitoring and propose innovative patentable concepts
