Job description

Overall job definition :

Lead and manage all aspects of product safety, ensuring that products are safe for customers, meet regulatory requirements, and adhere to quality standards.
Make critical decision to uphold product safety and minimize risks.

Main missions :

1. Strategic Leadership :

  • Develop and execute the organization's product safety strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives.

  • Provide senior leadership and direction for product safety initiatives.

2. Regulatory Compliance :

  • Stay informed about national and international product safety regulations and standards and ensure that the organization complies with all applicable safety regulations.

  • Monitor product development process and support product release,

    • Identify statutory and regulatory product-safety requirements,

    • Create Product Safety requirements or adapt them to specific products,

    • Support in the selection and documentation of products, components, or functional groups from a Product Safety perspective,

    • Approve design/ process FMEA and control plans,

    • Evaluate potential effects on product safety during process and product changes,

3. Policy Development and Implementation :

  • Develop and implement product safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of products.

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to these policies across the organization by defining objectives and key figures for Product Safety

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Collaborate with various departments, including sales, product and process development, quality assurance, manufacturing, legal and communication, to ensure that product safety is integrated into every aspect of the business.

  • Set up and lead Product Safety working organisation incl. decision making committee and communication network.

5. Risk Assessment and Mitigation :

  • Identify potential safety risks associated with products and take measures to mitigate those risks.

  • Lead risk assessment efforts to proactively address safety concerns.

6. Incident Response and Investigation :

  • Establish and lead incident response teams to investigate safety-related incidents, accidents, or complaints.

  • Ensure appropriate corrective actions and preventive measures are implemented.

    • Initiate measures in case of deviations,

    • In case of deviations for delivered products, define escalation process in advance, incl. response plans and responsibilities,

    • Derive lessons learned.

  • Make critical decisions related to production stop, product recalls, design changes, and process improvements in cases of safety concerns.

7. Quality Control :

  • Oversee product testing and quality control processes to maintain high product safety and quality standards.

    • Identify and control safety-related characteristics of product and at the point of manufacture,

    • Accompany production by performing The checks according to Product Safety requirements, and carrying out/initiating COP spot checks,

    • Ensure product and process traceability ánd storage of relevant documents

8. Communication and Reporting :

  • Communicate safety-related information to senior management, regulatory bodies, and the public, as needed.

  • Prepare and present reports on product safety performance to senior executives and board members.

9. Product Safety Education and Training :

  • Ensure that Product Safety awareness is created in the whole ACC company

  • Develop and conduct product safety training programs for employees.

  • Keep the organization informed of best practices in product safety

Profile

Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of product safety regulations and standards.

Experience : 

  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and quality standards.

  • Extensive experience in product safety, quality control, and compliance.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, product safety, quality assurance, or a related discipline. An MBA or similar advanced degree may be preferred.
